Richard is an experienced corporate lawyer who provides legal advice and represents clients in corporate and commercial transactions and disputes. Richards legal practice focuses primarily on start-ups, business arrangements and combinations, corporate finance, securities regulations, and International business transactions. He has considerable expertise in shareholders and investor disputes, breaches of complex commercial contracts, derivative actions, securities litigation, and related matters. His experience includes assisting clients in structuring and negotiating business arrangements, including joint ventures, partnerships, and consortium projects. Richard also helps investors and venture capital financiers and multinational clients on corporate governance matters, investment decisions, regulatory compliance, and other corporate transactions.
Richard began his legal career with Dr W.C Ekow Daniels & Co and has successfully represented and litigated several corporate and commercial transactions before the superior courts in Ghana. Before his legal profession, Richard worked in various commercial capacities as Key Account Manager at Guinness Ghana Plc and Territory Sales Manager at Vodafone Ghana Limited. In addition to his legal practice, Richard is also an academic. His teaching and research interests include Company Law, International Commercial Arbitration, Securities Law, and he has written extensively in these areas. Richard is also an adjunct lecturer at the UPSA Law School and the UPSA School of Graduate Studies, where he teaches Commercial Law, International Trade and Investment Law, and Company and Partnership Law.
Richard holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the GIMPA Law Faculty (Accra, Ghana), a Masters in Laws (LLM) from the University of Cincinnati (Ohio, USA), Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the GIMPA Business School (Accra, Ghana) and currently a PhD Candidate at Queens University (Kingston, Canada).
